Meet the Momma Mar’s Farm Animals
Meet our Yaks: Gimli, Gypsy, & Baby Fury
Gypsy the yak was 5 years old and pregnant when she arrived at the farm. We originally brought Gypsy to be a companion for Gimli, but he didn’t take a liking to her. Pregnant (and probably a little grouchy) and in a new environment, Gypsy gave birth to Fury just three days after arriving. The new ‘little’ seemed to soften up Gimli as he took a liking to Fury, and then Gypsy and Gimli became inseparable as well.
The farm takes great pride in their animals and go above and beyond to ensure they are happy and healthy. Gypsy’s story is a testament to the unconditional love and care that animals get at Momma Mar’s. Gypsy had a hard time trusting us (and we had a hard time trusting her horns) but with some TLC and a little direction, Gypsy has settled in and has become a sweet girl and a loving addition to the farm. Gimli and Fury’s playful personalities and love for snacks make them a joy to be around.
Mini Donkeys: Prince & Piper
Welcome to the world of Prince and Piper, two adorable mini donkeys with unique personalities that will steal your heart away. These two cuties were brought home from a breeder in CO Springs in the fall of 2019 when they were just 8 months old. They have been inseparable since they were foals and love spending time with each other.
Prince, with his white and spotted coat, and Piper is a smooth gray. They both love to play and have fun. One thing that’s for sure is that Prince and Piper are very friendly. They enjoy getting cuddles and scratches and may follow you around the paddock. They also have a playful side and like to chase after the dogs, but they love horses.
If you’re looking for some adorable new friends to brighten up your day, then look no further than Prince and Piper – the cutest mini donkeys around!
Pygmy Goats: Reno & Vegas
Reno and Vegas are two adorable pygmy goats. From their playful antics to their charming personalities, they never fail to bring joy to everyone around them. These two inseparable buddies were brought home from a breeder in Texas when they were just a few months old. Reno is light colored, and Vegas has a beautiful smooth black coat that shines in the sun.
Reno and Vegas love nothing more than frolicking around and munching on fresh grass in the summertime. They are timid but can be bribed to come to you and get a snack. They will bring a smile to your face and steal your heart.
Pot Bellied Pig: Nike
Nike is a pot-bellied pig who came to our farm all the way from Oklahoma. He used to live as a pet, but when his owner couldn’t take care of him anymore, we happily welcomed him to our farm. Nike was just around 9 months old when he arrived in December 2021. He is a curious little pig who loves to explore the farm and find new things to eat.
Nike is also a very friendly pig who enjoys getting scratches and playing with the dogs on the farm. He has brought so much joy to everyone here and reminds us that unexpected things can bring happiness.
Geese: Wings & Strings
Meet Wings and Strings who are two geese that have captured our hearts here at Momma Mar’s Farm. Wings is a beautiful white female and Strings is a handsome tan male. We got them as goslings in the summer of 2019 and they have been inseparable ever since.
They stick together all day and have a routine that they know by heart. We love to spoil them with their favorite treats and watch them swim in their pools.
These two geese are a joy to have around and add to the charm of the farm.
Freya
Great Pyrenees are majestic and powerful dogs and are often referred to as the “leader of the pack.” We were lucky enough to welcome a female Great Pyrenees puppy into our Momma Mar’s family in March 2021. From the moment we brought her home, she has been a bundle of energy, always eager to explore and play. She loves nothing more than getting dirty and being outside, especially in cold weather.
In November 2022, she had a litter of puppies with Boone, another Great Pyrenees, and has proven to be an excellent mother. Her playful and affectionate nature brings a lot of joy to our family, and we couldn’t imagine life without her.
Boone
Boone is a male Bernese Mountain Dog who stole our hearts the moment we brought him home as a puppy in January 2022. He’s a cuddle bug, a gentle giant who loves all animals and people. Boone’s favorite weather is cold, and he often spends hours frolicking in the snow. As a proud daddy to a litter of puppies in November 2022 with Freya, Boone has proven to be an excellent father, always looking after his little ones.
Lila (pronounced Lee-Lah)
Lila is a Bernese Mountain Dog and Great Pyrenees mix, and she’s the daughter of Boone and Freya. This adorable puppy, pronounced Lee-Lah, takes after her father, who she loves crawling all over him. She has a sweet disposition that makes her a joy to be around. Lila is playful and loves to cuddle, making her a perfect addition to our family and brings us endless love and joy.
Teal is a beautiful Bernese Mountain Dog and Great Pyrenees mix, and she’s a proud puppy from Boone and Freya. She’s taken after her mom, Freya, as she loves to cause trouble and is very independent. She’s also very curious and loves to explore new things. Despite her independent nature, Teal loves playing with Lila, her sister. They have a great time running around and playing together. Teal is a joy to have around the farm.
Trigger:
Trigger is a fun and feisty Min-pin who was adopted as a puppy in February 2019. He’s a mama’s boy and barks at anyone else who tries to get close to him. Trigger loves receiving his bark box and tearing the squeakers out of his toys. He’s also an expert traveler and loves to fly with his mom. Whether he’s cuddling or tearing up his toys, Trigger is a whirling dervish of activity and puts a sparkle in his mama’s eye.
Grey:
Grey is an energetic male cat who was originally an outdoor cat before he arrived at Momma Mar’s. He quickly adapted to his new environment and has since become an indoor cat, learning to the doggy door with ease.
Grey loves to play and can often be seen attacking people’s feet for fun. He has also become quite the bully to the household dogs, making sure they know who is in charge.
Despite his mischievous behavior, Grey is a lovable and entertaining addition to the farm.
.
Tiger:
Tiger is a beautiful and affectionate cat who joined our family as a kitten in May 2022. From the moment we brought her home, she has been a social butterfly, eagerly seeking out attention and affection from anyone who crosses her path.
Although she lives in the barn, she is a skilled hunter and loves nothing more than catching mice. Tiger is also a fan of treats, and we love to spoil her with her favorite snacks. Tiger gave birth to a litter of kittens last November which was a surprise to use. We are proud of our little mama “mouse-inator” and her adorable offspring.
Onyx:
Onyx is a charming female cat that we welcomed into our family in May 2022 as a tiny kitten. She now resides in our barn and has become a beloved companion of our resident cat, Tiger. Despite her petite size, Onyx has a big personality and loves nothing more than being held and cuddled, often purring contentedly as soon as someone gives her some affection. While she adores Tiger, Onyx keeps her distance from Tiger’s kittens, preferring to watch them from afar. Overall, Onyx is a delightful feline with a warm and friendly nature that makes her an instant hit with everyone who meets her.
Cali:
Cali is a female kitten that has been with us since birth, as she is one of Tiger’s kittens. She resides in the barn and loves meeting new people, as well as playing with her toys. Cali has a feisty personality and enjoys attacking her momma, Tiger. Although Cali is still young, she is already learning the art of hunting and has taken to chasing after mice. Her playful and curious nature makes her a joy to be around, and we can’t wait to see what adventures she will have in the future.
Chickens:
We raise happy and healthy chickens that provide our family with delicious fresh eggs. Although our chickens don’t have names, we take great pride in giving them the best care possible. As we enter spring, we are excited to announce that we will be adding more chicks to the flock. We love fresh eggs and know that you will too – plus our baby chicks are just so cute!
